FAQs

Are blocking services included?

Yes! I check all corners (even if a frame was used). If the corners are not exactly 90°, I will block your needlepoint. For stockings or shaped needlepoints without square corners, I will block so that the canvas mesh gridlines are 90°

Do I need to add "extra rows" to my needlepoint?

No! Please do NOT add extra rows. You may add an extra row if there is any beading on your outermost row. Otherwise…no extra rows.

I need my finishing for a certain date (wedding, birthday, etc.) How do I know if this is possible?

Tell me your target date on the "additional details" line of the quote request form. I will try my best.

Do you offer monogramming service?

Yes! Describe your specifications on the additional details section on the "Request a Quote" form. Specify approximate size of lettering, color of thread desired, and placement of your monogram or embroidered phrase.

Do you make custom twisted cording from my own threads?

No. I only sew with ready-made cording that has the "lip" attached and is sewn in the seam.

Do you re-make old needlepoint pillows and stockings?

Yes! With a fresh blocking and new fabric, I can transform a tired pillow or stocking into a new keepsake. (If soiled, you may wish to have your piece dry-cleaned before sending.)

How do I pay for my finishing?

You will receive an email when your finishing is ready to ship with a photo of your piece(s), an invoice, and payment instructions and options. Payments can be made by way of credit card, Venmo or Zelle.

What is the service time for finishing?

This varies during the year. I try very hard for reasonable service times. Currently… approximately 16-18 weeks. (as of March 1, 2024)

What is your Christmas cut-off date?

This varies from year to year. I will post deadlines and cut-off dates on my Instagram @JBneedlepointfinisher. 2023 Christmas cut-off was August 10, 2023.

Do you finish items other than pillows and stockings?

No. I do not offer finishing of ornaments, stand-ups, belts, boxes, trays, etc.

May I send my own fabrics and trims for finishing?

Yes! I love that, but I also enjoy selecting fabrics from my extensive inventory that you may not have easily available. I have a wide selection of decorative cordings and brush fringes, and can offer contrasting welt choices.  If you prefer a particular fabric or color that I don't have in stock, I may be able to order it.  (This adds to final costs due to higher fabric prices and additional shipping.)

Tips for Pros and Novices

* No stretch fabrics for finishing

* No "extra rows".  Please do not add extra rows of stitching if you do not want them to show when finished.

* Please do not trim excess unstitched canvas that surrounds your stitched area.

* Please do not use masking tape when binding the edges of your canvas.

* If stitching your own monogram within your canvas, please place at least 3 rows up and in from a corner so as not to get lost.

* Try not to fold your needlepoint when mailing.  Roll or send flat if possible.
